- אָוָוזm. (√אוו, v. אְוַש; cmp. Syr. וזא, a. וזוז bombum edit, P. Sm. 1060) (the noisy), goose. Ber.57a הרואה א׳וכ׳ he who sees a goose in his dream, may hope for wisdom (with ref. to Prov. 1:20, ‘wisdom cries ). Y.B. Kam.V, end 5a אֲוַוז ים וא׳ יישובוכ׳ the water goose (bernicle) and the domestic goose are two diff. species (כלאים); Y.Kil.VIII, 31c bot. א׳ עם א׳ מדברוכ׳ the (domestic) goose and the goose of the steppes (wild g.); א׳ עם א׳ הים the domestic and the water goose; B.
